Raise Your Hand: What question would you ask candidates for RCSD superintendent?

Time to Educate begins with great questions. That's why we are asking you to Raise Your Hand and participate in this community-driven reporting project. You will help shape our stories and point the way toward solutions to end educational inequity in our community.

Our current question is in regard to candidates for superintendent of Rochester schools.  Rochester City School District Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams will step down from her role at the end of January. She leaves at a difficult time for RCSD - on the heels of a scathing report on the school district by a state-appointed distinguished educator and on the eve of an upcoming budget session that promises to be painful.

The new superintendent will have a mountain of serious issues to deal with. If you were interviewing candidates for the role of superintendent of RCSD, what questions would you ask? What qualifications are important for a superintendent of schools?

Here’s how it works

You share the question you would ask a candidate for superintendent of the Rochester City School District. Our team reviews the responses and decides which ones to report on. If we choose your question, we’ll get in touch with you to talk more about it and invite you to participate in the reporting.
