August 2018 Local and Primary Voter Guide

If you live in Miami-Dade County, you’re probably looking at a pretty packed ballot for the Aug. 28 local and primary elections, with everything from referenda to gubernatorial and congressional primaries on many ballots. We put together this guide to make it a little less overwhelming.

A couple things to know:

  • The county elections are all non-partisan, so we didn’t identify candidates’ party affiliation.
  • We aren’t covering every race on the ballot. Some of them are uncontested or not at all competitive, while others are pretty minor or cover an area where few of our readers live. We had to make a call on which coverage would be the most impactful.
  • You, our crew, helped us design this voter guide by submitting your own questions. Peek at the whole list.

Plus, if you’ve got questions on how the voting itself works, check out our Q&A addressing your voter questions. If you’re looking to vote early, you can do so until Aug. 26. Here’s what you need to know Not sure what’s on your ballot? Check out your customized sample ballot so you head to the polls totally prepped.
